Blue Escape
This project was created through a collaboration between visual artists Clemens Zalm and Rineke Kop
The installation consists of a transparent photographic image of a rock formation that transitions symmetrically at the sides into reproductions of abstract paintings. The same abstract painting style is carried through in 7 canvases that are arranged in a rhythmic order, descending from dark to light.
The striking location, a former alley between the two buildings, the current location of the RAR gallery, was the starting point. This intermediate space is translated into another intermediate space, namely the photographic image of the blue sky bounded by two rocks.
The photo was taken in the tuff landscape of Cappadocia and the paintings are earthy and contrast with the intense blue of the sky in the photo.
The installation is an experience, a metamorphosis from reality to abstraction integrated into the streetscape of Spijkenisse
